A Morning Aboard the U.S. Coast Guard Barque Eagle
These images document a morning aboard the U.S. Coast Guard Barque Eagle as it journeys up the Chesapeake Bay (from just outside of Annapolis) to Baltimore for the Star Spangled Spectacular celebration in honor of the 200th anniversary of the Star Spangled Banner.
I had the privilege of riding aboard, along with 1430 WNAV, to witness this majestic ship, her crew and visiting trainees (officer and enlisted) in action. Also aboard were other members of the media, local dignitaries and U.S. Coast Guard officials.
From witnessing the rendering of honors by the crew as we passed Ft. McHenry on the anniversary of 9/11 to seeing the attention the ship garnered en route, it was a truly a day to remember.
The images are presented in order of the journey - the best way to view them is to select slideshow, then arrow through.
